Experience you can trust.
Results that speak volumes.

At Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas, we believe that well done is more important than well said. We take great pride in the results we have achieved for our clients. Whether negotiating a favorable settlement or taking a case to trial, we never lose sight of the fact that we’re doing more than arguing the law. We’re helping people put their lives back together, by seeking just and fair compensation for their serious injuries or losses. The following examples are just a few of the thousands of cases we’ve handled in a half century of serving our valued clients.

$24 million jury award to injured teen and family

A teen-age boy suffered catastrophic injuries in a train derailment. Representing both the teen and his family, Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas argued that the derailment was caused by the railroad’s inadequate track maintenance. The case was concluded with one of the largest single personal injury settlements in the country, over $24 million dollars.

Railroad worker receives $1.1 million jury award

A railroad worker fell from a wooden platform, fracturing his pelvis and spine, while replacing a 700-pound locomotive part. Attorney Randal LeNeave from Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas successfully argued that the railroad failed to provide sufficient tools for the job and that the work platform didn’t offer needed guardrails or fall protection. The verdict found the railroad 85% responsible for the accident and awarded our client 1.1 million dollars in damages. Read More

Investigation benefits families of Edmund Fitzgerald victims

The Edmund Fitzgerald, a large tanker, sank in a storm on Lake Superior, killing all on board. Investigative work by Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas uncovered a previously unknown witness and provided valuable information about the unseaworthiness of the ship. This new information allowed the firm to negotiate a more favorable settlement of claims on behalf of crew members’ families.

Tire manufacturing defect exposed

An 18-year-old Eagle Scout injured on a camping trip was left a quadriplegic when the car in which he was riding crashed following a tire blowout. A large jury verdict was returned against the tire manufacturer in one of the first cases exposing defects in one of its tires.

Structured settlement for life

Tragically, a newborn sustained severe and permanent injuries during birth due to the negligence of a physician and hospital staff. Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas secured a large structured settlement to provide for the child’s medical care and housing for life.

$600,000 settlement for injured railroad worker

A jury awarded a 55-year-old railroad conductor and brakeman $600,000 in compensation for a career-ending foot injury received when he was thrown from a moving railcar. Hunegs, LeNeave & Kvas successfully argued that the railroad failed to provide a reasonably safe work environment, and failed to implement and enforce safe procedures for the switching of railcars.
